Low-temperature sample volume investigation

General information

Usage

  • Transmission geometry, the gamma radiation is going through the sample, the detector on the other side is collecting absorption spectrum
  • System equipped with low temperature cryostat, the sample is put inside of the cryostat (evacuated chambre)
  • Allows to study the sample under low temperatures

Sample types

  • Powder
  • Thin bulk samples (must be transparent for 14.4 keV gamma photon radiation)

High-temperature furnace

  • Different types of cryostats available:
    • Liquid nitrogen bath cryostat (range from approx. 100K – 300K)
    • Closed Cycle Helium cryostat (range from approx. 3.5K – 300K, 3rd party product)
  • Temperature control (electronically adjustable)
  • All necessary parts included (vacuum pump, power supply, temperature control, …)

Power supply

  • Standard commerical laboratory power supply
  • Typically 4-channel GW Intek GPE-4323 (110V/240V)
  • Supply voltages: +5V, +15V, -5V, -15V

Calibration set

  • MRA.2.6 standard alpha iron reference absorber (ritverc.com)

  • Windows 11 operating system
  • Remote access
  • Interface for controlling the spectrometer (Spectrometer is independent on PC)
